About Mooroopna Golf Club Inc in Mooroopna
18 hole course is lined throughout with native Australian trees that offer a true challenge to the golfer. The Club also boasts two well maintained grass bowling rinks. The Golf Club was established in 1929 and has a proud tradition for Golf and bowls in the region. Originally a 9 hole sand scrape course it was extended to an 18 hole course shortly after World War 2. In 1964 the course was converted to grass greens.
The Mooroopna Golf Club has become a very popular golfing and bowls venue for visitors and locals. Bob Shearer, past Australian Champion started his Junior Golf at Mooroopna and his name still appears on the junior trophy held at the club. Many great International and Australian players such as the great Peter Thompson and the legendary Gary Player also played Mooroopna fairways. The Club has continued to grow and prosper, for example, since 1990 the Clubs commercial arm has expanded into a 7 day a week business with the introduction of a gaming facility, Bistro and other Hospitality facilities.
A resident Golf Professional and Pro shop are attached to the club to give members and visitors that extra personal service and assistance. In recent years the Club has undertaken a program of course improvements including re building of greens and fairways. This continuous improvement program will ensure that Mooroopna Golf Club remains at the forefront of Golfing and bowls.
